Local- and Wide-Area Specialized Network Support

SENTEL provides a solid capability to design, develop, implement, and accredit secure computing environments, both large- and small-scale. SENTEL personnel define the operational and technical requirements for the networks, including network security—the most important requirement—as well as network restrictions and encryption levels required for data access. SENTEL also determines requirements for approval, certification, and accreditation of all hardware and software.

SENTEL researches available Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) computer hardware, software, and encryption systems to meet customer requirements in a cost-effective manner. A variety of network technologies (e.g., Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Ethernet, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Type 1 data encryption, and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) over TCP/IP) are employed to host a range of network protocols and solutions at numerous locations. SENTEL maintains and supports this network architecture, which tunnels through a number of disparate networks, including existing networks and leased circuits (both local and long-haul).

SENTEL maintains and supports all network assets from procurement to retirement. This includes applications, license agreements, information technology systems, and hardware, as well as information technology support equipment (e.g., VTC operations). SENTEL provides network asset inventories and asset tracking services to track leases, maintenance agreements, and service contracts. SENTEL personnel are on call around the clock to keep the systems operational and secure. SENTEL networks have never been compromised by outside elements (hackers) or by inside security testing and exercises.
