IRS Audit Software

SENTEL provides software maintenance and development support to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in Dallas, Texas, for the Report Generation Software (RGS) system. IRS RGS is used throughout the IRS and across the nation by tax examiners and by support personnel, such as clerks and managers.

The IRS RGS automates tax return examination functions that would otherwise be performed by tax auditors, revenue agents, tax examiners, and customer service representatives. These functions include automating the activities required to examine individual, corporate, s-corporate, and partnership income tax returns; generating reports for all return types; creating correspondence; and calculating restricted interest across functions throughout the IRS, including returns processing and collection. Using data entered by download, transcription, or user input, IRS RGS performs complex calculations to determine correct tax liability and tax deficiency interest and penalties. The integrity of taxpayer data and accuracy of the calculations is of utmost importance to the IRS and users of RGS.

SENTEL has a successful track record of more than 20 years of high quality software releases and customer satisfaction. Our employees are trained in the applicable customer-specific methods of handling sensitive data. Whenever possible, our engineers apply process improvement practices. Our software engineers have a combined 150+ years of experience with tax law applications development, complex program integrations, and integrating data from multiple sources for specific program and customer use.
