Electronic Document Processing

SENTEL provides administrative and technical support services to the Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)/Office of Records Services (ORS). ORS maintains the Conventional Reading Room (CRR) and Electronic Reading Room (ERR) for public access to documents, records, and other information collectively available under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) (5 U.S.C. 522) and Electronic FOIA (E-FOIA) Amendments of 1996, as well as other publicly available records.

SENTEL’s services to ORS involve digitizing and indexing paper records, indexing government property, and preparing Internet-ready documentation within the following programs:

• FOIA;
• Privacy Act (PA);
• Information Processing System (FIPS);
• System Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE);
• E-FOIA/PA; and
• The Office of Records Management (ORM).

To assist the government in indexing its property, SENTEL has developed and maintained an inventory management software tool that has greatly enhanced property inventory processes. SENTEL also provides support services, including updating and maintaining historical documents by scanning, indexing, and providing web assistance for electronically archiving and transporting technical documents.
