Afloat Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations Program
Since 1991, SENTEL has provided software engineering, analytical, and technical support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), for the development, execution, and maintenance of the Afloat Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations Program (AESOP) and its predecessors. Deployed aboard U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, and allied combatant vessels, AESOP is a sophisticated interactive program used to coordinate radar, electronic warfare, communications, navigational aids, and other frequencies. It minimizes or eliminates electromagnetic interference (EMI) that occurs as a result of intra- and inter-ship antenna-to-antenna coupling. This complex, mission-critical software application performs rigorous computations to coordinate frequencies for shipboard missiles and search and track radars. It is also used as a modeling and simulation tool for EMI. AESOP is installed on every ship in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard fleets.
SENTEL performs full life-cycle software development support for AESOP. This includes requirements management; project planning; software design and implementation; database design and implementation; configuration management; test planning, execution, and documentation; Quality Assurance (QA); fleet-user helpdesk support, and fleet-user training. SENTEL also develops and maintains a variant of AESOP (the NATO Electromagnetic Operational Programme (NEOP)) for use by NATO navies.
