Cosite Analysis and Design
Communications and Electronics (C-E) systems can interfere with, and degrade, the performance of other C-E equipment. This degradation is a result of electromagnetic interference (EMI); the interactions can be very complex.
A C-E environment in a localized area can produce many types of EMI interactions; however, the types of interactions will diminish with distance separation. To determine the probability of unwanted interactions between cosite systems, a cosite analysis is required.

SENTEL is involved in all aspects of cosite analysis, including initial system concept, system retrofit, and platform-specific problem identification. Levels of detail include measurement and analysis of electronic circuits to complete systems. Co-site analysis products include computer models, problem identification, interference mitigation circuits, and system and component specifications that will avoid cosite interactions.
SENTEL engineers design and program engineering models of various cosite platforms and provide training courses for the models. In addition, SENTEL provides techniques and circuits to mitigate cosite interference interactions. The Comb Limiter Combiner (CLIC) and Comb Linear Amplifier Combiner (CLAC) have been jointly patented by SENTEL and the Navy’s Space and Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), and prototypes have been successfully tested in a U.S. Navy laboratory. Development of other shipboard applications is currently underway.
