Commercial RF Engineering Capabilities
SENTEL specializes in electromagnetic environmental effects (E3) engineering for the U.S. military. Recognizing that commercial radio frequency (RF) engineering efforts are similar to a Navy shipboard topside design effort or a below-deck electromagnetic interference (EMI) investigation, we have applied our specialized expertise in system EMI, including shipboard topside and below-deck EMI problem investigation. SENTEL experience also includes both cosite and intersite electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) analysis involving various military and commercial systems.
SENTEL was an integral part of a commercial effort to offer multiple wireless carriers the opportunity to provide service in areas where towers were scarce or where antennas could not be added to existing towers. SENTEL modeled antenna patterns for the new multi-band telecommunications antennas and developed the specifications for these systems. SENTEL has provided analyses that established an EMC antenna separation matrix that is used by the tower industry. SENTEL has also performed testing and equipment data collection on telecommunications systems. We conducted analyses of the effects of service providers converting cellular antennas to Personal Communications Service (PCS)/cellular antennas. SENTEL’s analysis and testing support permitted one provider to place over 400 new service providers on its towers without encountering EMI.
