Remote Data Relay

SENTEL’s Remote Data Relay (RDR) integrates disparate, remotely located sensors into a single network. Although SENTEL initially designed RDR for military chemical and biological sensors, RDR’s generic sensor integration platform creates a cohesive and intelligent network of any type of sensor.

Networks consisting of hundreds of devices are manageable with the Command Post software. Users can monitor and operate sensors from a central command post, minimizing any requirements for monitoring and operating sensors from the field. Connection to SENTEL’s RDR Command Post (RDR-CP) can be accomplished through radio modem or via Ethernet..

To minimize expensive downtime and rising costs of integration and configuration, SENTEL designed the RDR software to be generic. Just as in the corporate world, government agencies can lose valuable time and money when integrating systems used by disparate branches. Because branches of the armed services often share systems, compatibility is critical. RDR's plug-and-play capability enables a new sensor to be plugged into a port without the need to manually reconfigure the system; the system automatically reconfigures itself. Lifecycle costs are reduced, and the software’s familiar Microsoft Windows interface contributes to its generic nature. Information is presented hierarchically, providing users with the appropriate level of detail.

The RDR system is an affordable, portable, flexible, scaleable, and generic Command, Control, and Communications (C3) device. It can be operated in conjunction with government off-the-shelf and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) sensors to provide a smart remote data monitoring and controlling capability. SENTEL RDRs are currently fielded, are rugged, and have been validated under numerous and varied real-world operating conditions.
