Ted Harwood and Team Win AILES Contract Award for Navy Communications

Another big vote of confidence in the SENTEL team!

Congratulations to Ted Harwood and team for securing the recent award of the Advanced Integrated Line-of –Sight Equipment System (AILES) program for an estimated $1,455,422.00 with SPAWAR in San Diego, CA. The award is a small-business innovative research (SBIR Phase III) contract.

The project will enable the U.S. Navy’s SPAWAR and Office of Naval Research to improve the communications performance of ships and increase the number of “frequency hopping” radios that vessels use.

This project will be divided into three spirals. The estimated value is only for Spirals 1 and 2. Spiral 1 is to define, analyze, design, and document AILES. Spiral 2 is to develop, test, and demonstrate a prototype.

Spiral 3 is to deliver the prototype for independent testing and to develop a capability to manufacture AILES for installation onto navy ships. The value of Spiral 3 is undetermined. All three spirals shall include the development of a model for the total life cycle cost for development, installation, and maintenance of AILES.

If all options are exercised, this effort will run for five years. Ball Aerospace and Liberty University are strategic team members on this effort. Congratulations again to Ted and everyone else who supported this effort!
