Engineer Technician I

General Summary:

 

Engineer technician for support contract efforts at US Army Corps of Engineers/Engineer R&D Center in Vicksburg, MS. Applies knowledge and experience to provide specialized support of diverse Department of Defense (DoD) and other government agencies' goals in antiterrorism, force protection, geophysical research and other related efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

1. Duties include collection and data measurement of soil samples; use of geographic positioning systems (GPS) data and various still camera and video systems; operation of various analytical equipment, lifting heavy (over 70 lbs.) items;  installation of various geophysical equipment and systems; and using specialized tools related to geology and information systems.

2. Install and operate various types of tunnel and tunneling detection equipment and checkout of systems that use various seismic and other geophysical techniques.

3. Conduct and improve quality assurance/quality control techniques, conduct statistical analysis of sample data; and develop plans, procedures, and techniques for obtaining and analyzing data in a field or laboratory environment.

4. Train personnel on use of various technical systems that use Linux or other operating systems and use lesson plans as guides.  Develop training materials for installation and operation of various tunnel and tunneling detection systems and other related systems as needed.

5. Prepare, conduct, and document briefings and maintain records of activities.  Provide quick look and detailed presentations on subject matter as needed.  Write technical and other reports as required.

6. Travel as needed to various work sites where some may be in hostile areas outside the continental United States (OCONUS). Sites include Afghanistan and other hostile locations. Must attend and complete pre-deployment training. Must be willing and capable of wearing helmet and body armor during all work hours and travel to various locations where the environment may be hot, dry, wet, cold, and dusty. Travel OCONUS could be 90 days or longer at a time. Travel schedules will change often.

7. Coordinate with other contractors and government agencies to meet contract requirements.

8. Other duties that may be assigned to meet company and departmental goals and objectives.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

 

Must have a US passport or be able to show US citizenship with a birth certificate and obtain a passport quickly.   Must have completed or be willing to complete DoD Antiterrorism Level I course.   B.S. degree is desirable in a science or engineering field.   Government civil service experience or DoD experience is desired.

Certificate, Licenses, Registration, Clearance:

 

Must have a DoD SECRET security clearance or be able to get one quickly.

Computer Skills:

 

Must be computer literate with experience using Microsoft and other commercial operating systems and applications.
